Goegap Scenic Hiking Route

From the Visitor Centre, head past the Succulent Garden and take the track to the left towards the building. Almost immediately, turn right on the hiking trail heading towards the side of the valley.
This path zigzags up the hill before bending generally left along a vaguely flat plateau. Soon, there’s a small junction, where a very short out-and-back leads off to the left to a fantastic viewpoint. Standing on the edge of the valley sides, you get great views over the expansive plains below, dotted with rocky little hills.

After enjoying the views, return to the little junction and continue straight, further into the hills and slightly uphill. There are more good views and scenic landscape. Shortly after crossing over a dry streambed, the path bends right. Just before the next bend, the shortcut turns off to the right. Taking this shortcut reduces the distance by just over 1km.
Continuing the Hike

If you continue on the full hike, the path wiggles through the rocks here – it’s a fun route, but you have to keep a lookout for the trail markers. The path now begins to gradually descend.
You almost reach a track on the valley floor, but take the hiking path to the right before you actually reach it. This will lead you to a shady overhang where you can rest a while and admire the valley views.

After the overhang, the path leads downward and crosses the main track to walk along a smaller track back towards the Visitor Centre. In about 800 metres you’ll be back at the beginning, and the end of this Scenic Hike in Goegap Nature Reserve.
