Hintersteiner Lake & Achleiten Loop Hiking Route
From the parking area, head along the track and slightly down into the forest. The hiking signs will point you towards Hintersteiner See (Lake). You’ll soon be through the trees and come out in a lovely meadow with great views. The rest of the walk to Hintersteiner Lake is mainly through open areas and meadows.
At the farm near the lake, turn left, then keep left to reach the lakeshores. You’ll have good views from here across the water. Continue walking along the path through the trees with intermittent lake views. At the far end of the lake, it’s more open and there’s an area of the lake covered in reeds, popular with birds.
At the junction after a short uphill, take the track to the left. This heads more steeply upwards through forest before flattening to head through a large open area. The path leads back into the trees as you contour around Achleiten Hill. At the small junction, keep left on the higher path.
After a short uphill, it’s level and slightly down and you’ll soon come to a track. It’s then an easy walk on the track, then down the small road back to the car park and the end of the Hintersteiner Lake & Achleiten Loop Hike.
