Three Lakes Loop, Biberwier Hiking Route
From the car park by Weißensee, leave in the direction of Biberwier (away from the highway) and take the track to the right at the end of the car park. This track leads through a short section of woodland until you reach the shores of Lake Weißensee itself.
Weißensee

Take some photos from the beach and then continue along the track (it’s a private lake and you’re not allowed to swim). After the lake, keep taking the left fork at any path junction. Head through some fields, some more forest and into a clearing with electricity pylons. The path heads through the clearing, then take a left slightly downhill to a signpost and larger junction.
Blindsee

Head right along the path through the grass, then take the first right again, descending to a bend in the highway. Cross over the road and continue downhill on the other side. This steep path leads down to the shore of Lake Blindsee. If you want to swim, the best spots are at the other end, either before or after walking along the cliffside.
For now, take the path to the left around the edge of the lake. It’s mainly through woodland with a few gaps in the trees, allowing fantastic views of the lake and Zugspitze beyond. At the far end of the lake, you cross over a pebbly river delta (you can swim here) and then the path heads slightly uphill.

The way gets narrower and you walk along a cliff face (there are a couple of metal handholds in places, though it is never actually difficult). From here, there are more amazing views of the lake and mountains. The path then descends back to the lakeshore (you can swim here) and a boat house. This is the busiest section of the lake as there is a large car park just inland (expensive!).
Mittersee

Either visit the beach, or head left straightaway, up a fairly steep zigzagging path. The route now continues to Mittersee, the final lake in the three lakes loop hike. Follow the signposts in this direction, turning right at the edge of a meadow to reach the lake. This lake is surrounded by woodland and more like a very big pond.
At the end of the lake, head straight on along the smaller path rather than bending right on the big track. As you reach the road, turn left on the good path to head under the highway. Here you’ll find the lake/pond called Biberwier, but it’s not impressive. Shortly after the highway, turn right to return to the car park and the end of the Three Lakes Loop near Biberwier.
