1. Schlosser Turm
The Schlosser Turm is a colourful tower from the 14th century, previously lived in by the town messenger. Today you can stay at the top of the tower, as part of the Tauber Lodge*.
Directions: Walk up the steep street to the left of the tower. At the top turn left.
2. Stadtkirche Peter and Paul
Stadtkirche Peter and Paul is at the top end of town. It was built in the 13th century, but with several extensive renovations since then.
Directions: Walk down the narrow street to the left of the church and take the first right.
3. Lenksches Haus
The Lenksches Haus is a fantastic example of a half-timbered building. It was built by Johannes Lenk in 1590. It fell into disrepair, but was renovated in the 1980s and is currently in great condition.
Directions: Leave the square to the right of the Lenksches Haus, then take the first right up the hill towards the next stop.
The beautifully renovated Romschlössle is now used as the town library. You can go through the big wooden door into the courtyard for a fabulous picture. Opposite the little castle is the Romschlössle Rose Garden. You can walk up the central steps to a bench with great views back down to the castle and over the rest of Creglingen town.
Directions: Return downhill to the Lenksches Haus. Take the street opposite to walk through the old schloss.
5. Schloss Creglingen
Schloss Creglingen is a former moated castle in the centre of Creglingen old town. The original building was from 1100, though rebuilt almost entirely in the 16th century in a Renaissance style. Today the residential tower of the castle remains, but not much else of the original building.
Directions: Turn right at the T-junction then take the first right. The Jewish Museum is down the next street to the left.
6. Jewish Museum
A Jewish community lived in Creglingen from the 17th century until 1939. The Jewish Museum describes the regional roots and specifics of Jewish life in Creglingen over the centuries.
Directions: Return back to the main street and turn left. Turn left just past the apothecary with the cute red and white corner tower. Take the next left and follow this street as it bends left towards the car park and the end of the Creglingen Walking Tour.
