Govone Town & Country Walking Route
Govone Town
Head out of the car park, but before passing through the gates, turn right up the steps. This leads you through the castle gardens and then up to the front. This castle, perched on top of the hill in the middle of town, is the main attraction of Govone. Apart from that there are a couple of cute streets, churches and several nice restaurants that can be enjoyed at the end of this walk.
From the front of the castle, head to the viewpoint. The main town square is far below you, with the vine-covered hilly countryside stretching out beyond. Walk down the steps to the left, then right into the square. From here, head down the hill and around the cute church. Keep on walking downwards and follow the road as it bends right. At the junction turn left along the road out of town.
Govone Country
Take the left fork at the roundabout and head straight along the small road. There are great views from here over the valley below and back towards Govone. Once you reach the village of San Pietro, turn left towards the centre. Head right at the next junction, then left again to walk a loop around the church.
You’ll then see a small lane opposite leading down into the fields. Take this and walk through the grape vines. When the track bends right, look out for a path on your left by the hazelnut trees. After walking through the fields you’ll come out on a small lane. Turn left to wind up the hill to the top. Then turn right to walk back to Govone where this hike ends.
