From wherever you park, walk along the small side road to the south of Colle di Praglia. After about 600 metres you’ll come to the gravel car park and an information board. Head straight along the track to contour around the edge of the hill. Soon you’ll reach a saddle with your first views of the open hilly countryside you’ll be walking through.

Continue walking along the main track. The route is very easy to follow, just occasionally there are smaller paths that cut out small bends in the track. You can take these or follow the main track, it makes very little difference.

Head to the top and you’ll find two small shelters. These are always open, so you can enter and sit down inside if the weather is poor. Just make sure you leave the shelter as you found it, including bringing back any rubbish with you. Have a break to enjoy views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding hills.

The top of Monte Penello is the furthest point of the hike. To return to the car park at Colle di Praglia, simply retrace your steps.
