Britz is a division of the well established tourism company, known as Tourism Holdings Ltd. (THL). As one of New Zealand's premier tourism companies, it has operated in the motorhome market since 1988. Their aim is to offer customers an experience of a lifetime, whilst also keeping a close eye on the local environment with the purpose of preserving its beauty. They are indeed the first campervan hire company to attain the Eco accreditation through Ecotourism Australia and a proud participant of the Leave no Trace program.

Insurance

The amount of excess that the client is responsible for in case of an accident or collision varies between countries and type of vehicle. All detailed information regarding the amount is available during the booking process. The relevant amount will be blocked on the client´s credit card during pick-up. Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted (no American Express or Diners), in addition, cash and debit cards are not accepted as form of deposit. If you would like to reduce the amount of excess, some extra insurances are offered and can be selected during the reservation.

What additional items are offered?

A motorhome hire with Britz comes with kitchen equipment (cooking and eating utensils), including linen and bedding (bed-sheets, towels). In Australia and New Zealand a tablet with GPS is offered in all vehicles, whilst in Southern Africa vehicles come equipped with a spare tyre, camping table and chairs. If you are planning to fully explore Southern Africa it is possible, by paying a cross border fee, to travel within these countries: Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. Please keep in mind that some countries have no restrictions, whilst others such as Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique are partially restricted to certain areas due to security reasons. The cross border option is available during the booking process. As some paperwork is involved we strongly recommend you purchase this option beforehand and let us know which countries you would like to visit - this will allow us to facilitate your desires as smoothly and easily as possible. Important things to keep in mind when hiring a campervan with Britz

To be able to drive your vehicle in New Zealand, Australia and Southern Africa, you will need to hold a full driving licence written in English. If you licence is in another language, please be aware that you will be asked to present either an international driving licence or an accredited English translation (the translation must be provided by an authorised translation service or a diplomatic representative). An international driving licence or an accredited English translation must always be shown together with your full driving licence. If you are driving in Australia and New Zealand you are likely to pass through toll roads we would recommend you check before starting your journey and prepare accordingly.

The Britz Fleet

In Australia and New Zealand, the fleet is made up of a selection of different vehicles that can accommodate up to six passengers. Whilst in Southern Africa, vehicles can accommodate up to 4 passengers. In both cases, your rental rate will include:
