Find all our hikes, self-guided city walks and sights in the map below.
Below you will find an overview of our content, divided into several areas of Italy: Rome, Cinque Terre, Dolomites, Piedmont and Elsewhere. Also check out our useful resources for travelling in Italy at the bottom of the page.
Rome
Rome would take an eternity to explore properly. However, you can see a lot of it on our walking tours such as the Top Things to See in Vatican City, the Rome Ancient Centre Walking Tour, or our Guide to Visiting Castel Sant’Angelo.
If you’re more looking for walks/hikes in greenery, check out the Appian Way Walk, or the Park of the Aqueducts Walk.

Cinque Terre
Discover the Cinque Terre the best way – by hiking from town to town! If you don’t want to walk the entire, try one of the most popular sections such as from Vernazza to Corniglia. You can then take the train back.
For more nearby adventures, explore the town of Lucca or go hiking in the Apuan Alps.

Dolomites
The Dolomites are a great hiking destination. Some standout hikes inluclude Giau Pass to Rifugio Nuvolau and the Cinque Torri, Rifugio Fonda Savio Hike, Anello del Vallon Popera Hike and the Peitlerkofel Loop Hike.

Piedmont
Piedmont, in northwest Italy, is a great region to explore that’s off the standard tourist track. It’s especially worthwhile in Autumn when the vineyards begin to change colour and the Truffle Festival takes place in Alba. Explore the main city of Turin, visit the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, hike around the Barolo Vineyards or walk along the edge of Lake Orta.
Elsewhere
We have explored several other places in Italy, and some hikes stand out:
Useful Resources
Attractions
GetYourGuide* is the best website to book attractions and tours in Italy. This is not surprising as it is a Europe-based startup. We have booked several museum tickets and tours through them.
Accommodation
Booking.com* is our go-to website for accommodations in France. It typically has the best deals and best cancellation options. In the big cities it is also worth to check Airbnb.com for self-catering apartments.
Getting Around
Rentalcars.com* is the website we use to rent cars everywhere in the World. We can recommend it based on our experience in different countries. Also, get a road map* to help you planning your trip.
Plan and book your train journeys via the website of Italy’s national railway company and get the app when travelling in Italy.
Payments
Wise* is great for payments abroad: You can hold and convert between 40 currencies and pay with a single card in the local currency, avoiding a lot of transaction fees. We use it everywhere abroad as the costs are transparent and low and the service is super simple & convenient.
Insurance
Safety Wings* is great if you are looking for a medical and travel insurance with a good coverage all over the World outside of your home country. It is not the cheapest option but the service is flexible and you can even subscribe from abroad, ideal for nomads. We used the service in the past when traveling in Africa and Asia.
