From the car park in the centre of Whir-au-Val, head up the street through the old gate tower. Pass a fountain on your left and continue walking up the hill. At the second road on the right after the fountain, almost at the end of Whir-au-Val village, turn right.

This lane is called the Rue des Vignes and it leaves the village to head uphill through the vineyards above. At the first junction, follow the lane as it bends around to the left and gradually ascends the scenic hillside. From here there are lovely views across the valley below and the other vineyards growing nearby.

Keep winding upwards through the fields until the woodland near the top. Head into the trees along the track, and keep on the track as it winds back down to the lane at the bottom of the little valley. From here, continue left along the road all the way back through the old gate tower and to the car park in Whir-au-Val where the walk started.
