This easy short walk around Hrubá Skála Rock Town leads you past fantastic rock columns and through narrow, fun rock passages.

Location
The Hrubá Skála Walk starts from a car park in front of Hrubá Skála Castle. There are now two hotels at this castle, one just outside called Hotel Štekl* and one in the castle itself called EA Zamecky Hotel Hruba Skala*. These hotels are both similar and fantastic bases to explore this part of Bohemian Paradise.
Tips for Hrubá Skála Hike
- There’s a charge for the car park of CZK30/60/90 per 1/2/12 hours. This walk takes roughly an hour.
- There are cafes/restaurants by the car park.
- Parts of the path can be slippery when wet so wear sensible shoes.

Hrubá Skála Rock Town Walking Route
From the car park, head towards the road and take the slightly hidden right down the rocky steps, following some hiking signs. This fun route leads you down a narrow passageway to the base of some tall rock columns.
This walk around Hrubá Skála will lead you back here, returning the same way up the steep steps you came down. For now, turn right. This will lead you through lovely woodland until you reach a forest road. Turn left here, then take the wooden steps you see leading back into the forest and towards the rock columns on your left.
This small path leads through the centre of the rock town of Hrubá Skála, with crazy rock formations all around. You’ll head slightly upwards, then downwards to a larger track. Turn left here, then left again. You’ll soon see a memorial cut into the rocks on your right. The path continues onwards and up onto the top of some rocks.
Hrubá Skála Castle Viewpoint
Head left to the end of the rocks for a viewpoint, and then straight onwards to a more official viewpoint. From here you have great views of both the rock columns and Hrubá Skála Castle. Return slightly and now walk left. After a while, you’ll reach another viewpoint, again with views of the castle.
Continue along the trail and soon you’ll reach a small road. Walk immediately left at the road, down a steep flight of stone steps and back amongst the rocks of Hrubá Skála.
This route leads you to the floor of the valley again, between some magical rocks and back to the junction near where you entered. Turn right here to walk back up the steep narrow steps and return to the car park at the end of the Hrubá Skála Walk.
